BUILDING THE SET
Ghana lacks one vital facility; an available sound stage. The few that are available are either too small or too busy because they are owned by the TV stations.
To achieve the directors vision for Pabi and Jimahs home, production designer Tony Tomety turned an empty warehouse into a magnificent home for the couple!!

Sinking Sands, The Movie
Jimah and Pabi are a match made in heaven until a domestic accident turns their loving marriage into one of violence and abuse. Time to make decisions is here.
Pabi, the woman at the center of the controversy must choose between love and life, companionship and independence. What will she choose? What will you choose?
Sinking Sands cuts across race and sex. It demands answers. It demands self evaluation from individuals in all types of bondage. Especially WOMEN.
Scene from Sinking Sands |
Freedom is not as far off as most people think it is. In reality, freedom is in making a choice; it is in being bold. Time to stop running and making excuses for your oppression and oppressors. For when the path one runs on ends, she stops running, she turns round and she fights! You can only live or die. If you choose to live, you must prepare to fight.
You are not fighting for your freedom because it is already there. You are fighting yourself; your fears. Those nasty little voices that tell you "you can't", "it's too big for you", " it's too good for you", "you are not cut out for this", it will not work", "you are not good". Yes, those are the foes you must fight.
You may be in sinking sands now, but look closely and you will see a rope right within your reach. Grab it and hurl yourself up to higher grounds and keep pressing on the upward way!
Though not for women only, the filmmakers wish to dedicate the story of Sinking Sands to every woman who has lost her voice. Find it! Be not intimidated by culture, tradition, poverty, ignorance or fear. Be courageous and reach for your dreams! A true woman is one with enough courage to live and survive another day.
